What is the Mini Me Swap?
The Mini-Me is a VTEC head swap for the 88-00 Honda D-series motors. It involves taking a SOHC VTEC D-series head and attaching it to a Non-VTEC block. There are only two different D-series VTEC heads that are used for this swap. The other 1.5L blocks use a shorter 134mm rod.
Can you do a head swap on a Honda D16Y7?
I am planning to do either a head swap or a full engine swap from a D16Y7 to a D16Y8. I have done some research, but I can’t pinpoint the exact differences between the mini-me and the full swap.
What’s the difference between a D16Y7 and D 16y8?
As for the D16Y7 changed to a D16Y8… if you change the head and intake manifold, I believe the only difference between the full D16Y8 swap will be, you’ll have slightly lower compression ratio than the Y8…. otherwise, there’d be no real difference. Click to expand… There is my answer.

I would switch to OBD1 now if thats the case.. buy a Chipped P28 Ecu and when you get the Y8 head put on have it tuned or learn to tune yourself. Your gonna have to do this anyways if you go turbo. Can a D15 engine be converted to a Mini Me?
Mini-mes are D15 engines w/ vtec. You’re doing a vtec conversion. Mini mes are nice if your looking for a nice little upgrade in power without spending alot & if your a do it yourself person its fairly easy.. Fyi buy a Haynes manual book for about 15$ it will give u all the torque specs & info on tearing down & putting back together..
Which is better a Y8 or a D16Y7?
– Let the vtec selenoid in place, but let it unplugged. – y8 square combustion chamber matched with dished or flat top piston make good quench pad to prevent detonation and make the falme concentrate to the center, so better for rings, less detonation and pre-ignition. – y7 mecanic has less parts so by the way it’s easier.
