What is NVIDIA VXAO?
NVIDIA VXAO: Voxel Accelerated Ambient Occlusion is simply the highest quality ambient occlusion available in PC games today. VXAO’s world-space algorithm offers superior images, smoother response to camera movement, finer details and better accuracy than screen-space solutions.
How does VXAO work?
VXAO works by converting the screen space into voxels. This is much less resource intensive that accurate polygonal calculations, and from there it can trace where the shadows will be cast and then apply them correctly to the image.
What is Nvidia shadow libs?
Shadow Libs: As its name implies, this is all to do with the game’s lighting. It’s not as fancy as the game’s ambient occlusion (below) effects, but this lets characters cast much more accurate, detailed shadows on the ground.
Should I keep ambient occlusion on?
You would want to use ambient occlusion because it shows subtle variations in lighting and helps your eyes detect surface details that would otherwise be washed out or unnoticeable. Ambient occlusion is great for softening the overall lighting in your scene if it’s too bright.
What is Nvidia PCSS dying light?
Nvidia PCSS is an algorithm that mimics the behavior of shadows in nature, progressively softening shadows as the distance from the casting object increases and reducing aliasing on the edges of the rendered shadow. You can see exactly how PCSS affects the appearance of shadows from the side-by-side picture above.
What does HBAO mean?
HBAO & HDAO HBAO stands for ‘horizon based ambient occlusion’. It is a step up graphically from the simpler screen space ambient occlusion. It ups the ante from every aspect in SSAO, giving the game better and higher definition, and visibility.
