NPS Shoes have been manufacturing Gripfast on behalf of White & Co which has historically been distributed to the US market, however we have now launched Gripfast to our customers worldwide!
Are Solovair made in England?
Solovair is a brand of British-made boots and footwear, produced by NPS Shoes Ltd., which was established in 1881. The NPS factory is based in Wollaston, Northamptonshire, an area known for its shoe industry.
What are Solovair soles made of?
All Solovair leather footwear is made from bovine leather, specifically cowhide. This is the most abundant leather type that is used by premium leather goods brands. With the exception of Horween Chromexcel leather (which is sourced from the USA), all our leathers are sourced from European tanneries and cattle.

How should Solovair fit?
SIZE GUIDE
- Wearing socks, stand on your paper and make a mark at the end of your longest toe and the back of your heel.
- Join up the marks with a straight line and measure the length of your foot.
- Add approximately 3-4 mm / 0.15″ to your length measurement to accommodate tolerance.
Does Solovair come big?
If you’re using your US size as a reference with Solovair, it’ll be your true size, the one you’ll get on a Brannock device in a shoe store. That’s typically half a size smaller than your sneaker and half a size bigger than your boot.
Which came first Solovair or Dr Martens?
Over its long history Solovair has made boots for the British army and in 1959 it helped to create the first pair of Dr. Martens boots. Solovair made Dr. Martens shoes under licence for over 30 years but now it now only makes its own footwear.
Who invented monkey boots?
Historically used as a military boot and first made available to the general public in the 1960s, the Monkey Boot had a distinctive tractor tyre design sole and became a staple of skinhead fashion. Hailing originally from Czechoslovakia, the boots were made by companies including Svit, Cebo, Marlone and Zuch.
