What is done during a service?
Checking lights, tyres, exhaust and operations of brakes and steering. Ensuring your engine is ‘tuned’ to run in its peak condition. Checking hydraulic fluid and coolant levels. Checking the cooling system (from radiators in your car to pumps and hoses)
What gets done on a basic service?
As well as changing the engine oil, a basic service should check all other fluid levels in the car including screen wash, brake fluid, engine coolant and power steering fluid level. If any look too low, fill them up. It will also check your anti-freeze concentration.

What do you get at the end of a car service?
At the end of each service you’ll receive a stamp in your car’s service book. A complete service history is one of the things you should always look for when buying a used car – and something potential buyers will look for if you ever decide to sell your car.
The brake pads should also be checked but we’re not exactly sure if the checks vary slightly depending on the service or where it’s done. As this happened to your rear brake quite soon after your service it might be a good idea to check what was included with the Ford dealership you used. Hope this helps.
