What is AC circulation mode?
Most new thermostats have a “circulate” option that allows you to set the fan to run a certain amount of time per hour. This evens out hot and cold spots, uses your high-efficiency filtration or UV system more effectively, and keeps energy usage from going through the roof.
How does the recirculation button on the AC work?
How the recirculation button works When pressed, the recirculation button ‘recycles’ the air already inside your car instead of pulling air from outside. Since your cabin air has already been cooled by the AC, pressing the button helps the car cool quicker –much faster than if it had to get air externally.
What happens when you press the AC button?
If the vehicle is equipt with an ambient air temperature display, the sensor also prevents the AC clutch from engaging if the outside air is below as certain tempreture. To test, turn the AC on. Press and hold the AC button at the same time as you press and hold the recirculate button.
When to disable the air recirculation button?
Recirculating air, especially on a hot day, will cool down the inside of the car quicker and put less stress on the car’s blower motor and air compressor. The only time that you should disable air recirculation is if you notice the windows and windscreen fogging up.
When do I Turn Off the AC defrost button?
The only time you should turn it off is when you see your windshield and windows fogging up. But there’s no need for you to press the button though– just hit the defrost button instead. This automatically deactivates the recirculation function while clearing off the condensation from your glass panels.

Can a car run out of air if the recirculation is running?
Outside air will still find its way into the car through the tiny gaps in the doors, windows and elsewhere. Needless to say, there’s no reason for you to fear that you’ll run out of oxygen regardless of how long you have the recirculation function running.
