What is a diesel surge?
Diesel surge Sticking (or wear) problems with the high pressure control regulator can cause engine surging (most commonly noticeable at lower rpm and at idle), as well as intermittent engine shut-off during low speed braking and/or when approaching a final stop.
What are the reasons for turbocharger surging?
What are the Causes of Turbocharger Surging?
- If the inlet filter for the compressor on the turbine side is dirty, then enough air cannot be supplied for combustion, which leads to surging.
- Similarly, if the turbine side is also dirty i. e nozzle, blades etc.
- Damaged silencer.
- Worn out turbocharger bearings.
When does a diesel engine start to lose power?
Then, after about 1/2 hour it starts losing power and in a period of about 3-4 minutes it loses so much power that it can’t climb a small grade unless I drop it into 1st gear. Yet, once on the level it will return to the original RPM. (Maybe it will eventually not regain the RPM but I haven’t waited that long yet before putting it away.)
How long does a 24 hp diesel engine run?
Diesel runs great for 1/2 hour then very low power. This has me baffled. I started my YM240 (24 hp diesel) this spring and it runs absolutely fine for about 1/2 hour – plenty of power under load, no smoke, no blowby, everything seems normal.
What to do if your diesel tractor wont start?
To check if this is the cause of your problem, it’s often recommended that you remove the fuel cap, start the engine, then run it for an hour or so. If the tractor runs without issue, then the problem is the fuel cap. Either try cleaning the cap, then putting it back, or order a new one.
When to set DTC for engine surge maintenance?
• After driving at 6.25 mph or more, the actual engine idling speed varies from the target idling speed by between 100 and 200 rpm, five times or more during a drive cycle. • If the actual idling speed varies from the target idling speed by more than 200 rpm five times or more during a drive cycle, the ECM illuminates the MIL and sets the DTC.
