Why does my car stall when shifting into reverse?
If it happens when you are shifting into reverse then it could be that your Torque Converter Clutch is being engaged at idle. In this case I would recommend doing a complete transmission flush and replace the transmission filter and fluid.
What happens when I put the car in reverse?
Put the car in reverse holding the brake the car stalls, if I go into neutral or drive it works fine. If I put the car in reverse not holding the brake it shifts rough but doesn’t stall. I have not driven the car at speeds higher than 35mph, so not sure of the other gears.
Can a 4L80E Trans shift in reverse?
I’ve got a 1992 chevy 2500 4×4 6.5TD/4L80E 3.42 gear The trans shifts great in all forward gears, no codes, and locks up the torque converter as it should. no slipping whatsoever. When put in reverse it clunks like its engaging, then won’t move, no sign of moving. It clunks like its in, but 100% freewheels.
Is there a reverse on a c2500 6.5 TD?
On a mildly chilly morning, my 95 c2500 6.5 TD (4L80E) reversed 2 feet and all of a sudden, felt like a fuse popped. No reverse now -not even a hint of reverse. All forward gears work perfectly. The fluid was brown and low. I drained the pan, replaced the filter, filled it back up.
What causes a truck to stall in reverse?
For the last few months, my truck has been stalling when shifting it into reverse from drive. If I go to say, parallel park, within a second or two of changing gears from drive to reverse, the RPMs drop significantly and then it stalls.
