I got 2 FOBs with my Volt – do you only know of one FOB? And you left that one at home? Check inside the car, especially any package you got from the dealer in the console or glove box.

Why is my car stuck in accessory mode?
Went to start the car this morning and had a strange experience. The car seemed to go into accessory mode instead of starting, and then I couldn’t get it to do anything else: I couldn’t get it to turn off, nor could I get it to start.

What should I do if I Left my key fob at home?
You should have gotten a alarm on your DIC screen in big yellow letters saying KEY FOB NOT PRESENT and you should have gotten three honks after you got out of range or chimes mine did although it did not shut the car down. Which I think it should. Also check and see if you got the chimes shut off or disabled in config.

You will be able to lock the door and unlock it, but you won’t be able to start the car (afaik). The actual key fob has a passive transponder in it – most car keys have had them for a couple decades now or so.
