What does part time mean Jeep?

Why is the part time light on on my Jeep?
I myself have been researching the stuck in Part Time light on. Mine started when I took the Jeep to have the driveshaft removed for a rebuild. The mechanic must have flipped something b/c the light has been on ever since. A few days later the mechanic re-installed the rebuilt driveshaft and the light stayed on.

My 2004 Liberty has had the Part time dash light on since I switched it into 4wd during the last snow storm. The same day I switched it back to 2wd drive but the part time light is still on.
