When does the bonnet open warning light come on?
Thank you for your kind words. Bonnet open warning light on. I have a 2005 C 180 Kompressor. the bonnet open warning light comes on even though bonnet is securely shut, but only when the car is moving, and goes off when it is stationary – e.g. traffic light. any thoughts on this? Just to clarify….
How tall does the hood have to be to close the bonnet?
And you need to close the bonnet “robustly”. The manual says drop it from a height of 10 or 12 inches. I’ve noticed a few times that after closing too gently I get the open alarm after driving a short distance as if the bonnet isn’t seated properly – it is closed, but opening and closing again cures the alarm.
What to do if your Mercedes Benz bonnet is left open?
I’m not really familiar with MLs but my first thought would be to trace the wiring from the switch back towards the fusebox and make sure there are no shorts (between the wires or to earth) that could trigger the warning. does the warning disappear if the switch is completely disconnected and the wires left open circuit?

Why does my car warn me when the bonnet is open?
(I think the switch breaks the circuit when the bonnet is closed, similar to a door switch for an interior light) Interesting, the message says “Door open” – I’m pretty sure mine says “Bonnet Open” and a picture of a car with the bonnet up. I presume it’s not one of your door sensors playing up?
