What does depollution do on a Peugeot 407?
As the revs went up to about 1300 it dipped by about 500 and a warning of “Depolution System Faulty” came up. The car went into what the Peugeot garage called “Safety Mode” which from what I gathered limits the amount of revs you can go to?
How many miles does a Peugeot 407 have?
My 407 has 95,000 miles and to say the least has been well and truly used and abused. I purchased the car with 18,000 miles in Feb 2008. All the mileage has been created from a 100 mile round trip to work and back (All motorway mileage). For the last year the car has been shaking/misfiring when cold (but only at idle).

Why does my Peugeot 407 misfire at idle?
For the last year the car has been shaking/misfiring when cold (but only at idle). When driven and revved the misfire seems to disappear but come back at idle if still cold. Also the revs at idle are slightly higher than normal. Then when I drive for a few minutes and the engine has begun to warm everything is running smooth.

I have a 407 2.0 HDI 55 plate, bought recently but been niggly ever since. I have had the usual speed stuttering resolved by cleaning the EGR valve, then i got PEF Regeneration warnings which resulted in immediate loss of power but when the engine was switched off/on again the car had full power again.

Why does my Peugeot 407 run in limp home mode?
Closer examination showed that the filter ellement had broken up and was sometimes blocking the flow of air up the sensor pipe. so the sensor was not allowing the turbo to cut in, which felt like limp home mode. He threw the filter in the bin and the car has run fine for over a year now.
What was the fault on my Peugeot 406?
I had similar intermitant fault on my 406 2.2 hdi. Turns out previous owner had spent over �1000, as dealer threw parts and labour at it, I spent over �600 and they said it was fixed, but it came back. A fitter eventually found that one of the sensor pipes from the turbo, had a small in-line filter on it.
