What causes the radiator fan to ground the relay?
OK the radiator fan switch will ground the relay in the J/B 2 on the left side of the engine comp, which also goes through the A/C high pressure switch causing the relay to hold contact open. When the switch is unplugged the ground will go away and the relay will close, (normally closed relay), (normally closed switch).
When does the radiator turn on when the AC is on?
When the AC is switched on, the compressor clicks on. HOWEVER, the radiator fan does not turn on with the compressor. The rad fan only comes on when the engine gets hot, and it works well to keep the engine temps down. HOWEVER, it is only one speed (a low speed).
Why does my radiator not open the fan switch?
Almost seems like it has got to be crud inside the radiator where this normally closed COOLING FAN SWITCH screws into and is not opening the switch circuit when the coolant reaches the correct tempture. OR there is a circulation problem. Unpluging the connector and then the fans run, is the same thing as opening the circuit!!
When does the Rad fan come on or off?
The rad fan only comes on when the engine gets hot, and it works well to keep the engine temps down. HOWEVER, it is only one speed (a low speed). When I disconnected the coolant temp sensor and started the engine, the fan came on immediately, and at high speed. It came on even though I didn’t have the AC on.
Why does the radiator fan not come on when the AC is on?
In order for the AC Condensor to do its job it must stay as cool as it can. As for the engine coolant temp sensor, if the coolant is not hot enough to make the fan come on, then there is no need for the fan yet and there is no problem.
What are the symptoms of a bad cooling fan relay?
1. Engine running hot One of the first symptoms commonly associated with a bad or failing cooling fan relay is an engine that runs hot or overheats. If you notice that your engine is running at higher temperatures than normal, that may be a sign that the relay is not functioning properly.
How does the cooling fan relay work on a car?
The cooling fan relay is the relay that controls the engine’s cooling fans. When the correct parameters are met, a temperature switch or the computer will activate the relay, which will allow power to the fans. The relay will usually be activated once it is detected that the vehicle’s temperature…
When do you turn on the fan relay?
When the correct parameters are met, a temperature switch or the computer will activate the relay, which will allow power to the fans. The relay will usually be activated once it is detected that the vehicle’s temperature approaches excessively high temperatures.
