What causes coolant to boil off on a Jeep Liberty?

What causes coolant to boil off on a Jeep Liberty?

The result is that I’ve been boiling off my coolant and there is not enough anti freeze left in the system to fill the heater coil. The first problem I found was a deteriorated rad cap gasket that caused the system to loose pressure, thus with lower pressure in the cooling system, the boiling point drops and the coolant boils off faster.

Are there any issues with my Jeep Liberty?

My jeep liberty has had issues with the heater system in the past. I installed a new radiator 2 years ago. The stat was changed at the same time with new antifreeze.

When to let the Jeep Liberty cool down?

My jeep liberty blows hot air, then very hot air for a few moments, then cold air after about 30 minutes of running time. I must let the whole system cool down before it blows warm air again. This is dangerous when I’m in trying to keep my windshield clear under heavy wet snowy conditions.

What’s the air pressure in a Jeep Liberty?

I checked and Sea Level pressure is 14.7 psi. However, at 7,350 feet, the ambient pressure is around 11 psi. All this does is put additional pressure on the cooling system by about 4 psi. That should make no difference to the cooling system.

What does it mean when coolant bubbles in radiator?

Coolant, or antifreeze, is designed to flow smoothly through all of the cooling passages, with no air blockages. A thermostat opens and closes to regulate the coolant flow for engine warm-up and circulation. Air bubbles in the coolant, at the radiator or expansion reservoir, means air has entered the system at some point.

Why does my Jeep kJ not have coolant?

Click to expand… Just tells you that you do not have a air pocket trapped in the heater core in a KJ,most common place for it to get trapped. It’s opening the rad cap that lets the air out of the system. Otherwise the system stays pressurized and the coolant level will never drop to replace the air in the system with coolant.

What causes coolant to overflow from the radiator?

Your problem may simply be a loose or damaged cap not keeping coolant where it needs to be. The radiator cap is designed to allow access to fluids in a ‘closed’ system. The coolant used to cool the engine does so at maximum efficiency when kept at specific pressure. Check your owner’s manual for proper cap replacement.

Why do I have gas bubbles in my radiator?

If you’re seeing gas bubbles or some boiling in the liquid when you remove the radiator cap, a cracked head or block may be to blame. Do not remove a radiator cap from a hot engine to check.

Is there a bleed screw on the coolant hose?

Run the heat, open the Rad cap. That’s about all I had to do. Add coolant mix to replace the air. theres also a bleed screw on the upper coolant hose but i’ve done what dude1116 said several times and never had a trapped air issue.
