What causes a truck to shudder when going over rumble strips?
These are both with in my skill set. I also found this on a truck site “A possible cause for the shudder is a bad torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid or a bad torque converter clutch pulse width modulated solenoid (PWM). Thanks again.
What’s the sound of a truck shifting up or down?
It’s a very concerning sound that is more pronounced as the truck shifts up or down. I would call it more of a “roar” or a pulsating hum than anything else. More pulsating than steady. This is the first I heard this since purchasing the truck in September. It almost feels like it’s pullimg back against the acceleration.

Click to expand… This just started happening to my truck this evening. It has 6670 miles and the noise can be heard throughout the RPM range. It didn’t matter the speed it was a pulsating humming. I’m going to see what happens tomorrow and schedule an appointment with the dealership

I also found this on a truck site “A possible cause for the shudder is a bad torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid or a bad torque converter clutch pulse width modulated solenoid (PWM). Thanks again. The TCC is in the torque converter but its control mechanisms are not and I would not bet on the converter being the central issue.

When does the torque converter start to shudder?
It generally occurs at part throttle and light acceleration, between 15 and 50 miles per hour, just before the shift to one of the top gears where the converter reaches “lock-up.” Since it is temperature-related, it tends to happen on hot days, after idling in traffic for long periods of time.
What to do when your F150 shakes and shudders?
Replace joints by removing the bolts and nuts from the end of the drive shaft, then remove the shaft itself. The joints will remain attached to the drive shaft. Spray WD-40 on the joints at the end. After you have removed the U-joints, clean up the ends until they are nice and shiny.
