Is the throttle position sensor on a Harley Davidson correct?
I do not have a Harley electrical manual, but I do not think that the spike in resistace is correct. If any one can chime in on this, it would be great. Looking at my 2001 Electrical Diag Manual, it states to check the TPS, turn ign switch to on, connect voltmeter across pin 30 (+) and pin 16 (grnd) and gradually open throttle.
How to adjust the throttle position sensor ( TPS )?
Unplug the connector and remove the two small screws and the TPS is removed. The TPS appears to be set to a default of 0.5 volts. Rotating it in a CW direction decreases the voltage, and rotating it in a CCW direction increases it.
How much resistance does a Harley Davidson have?
The resistance rises to about 2.2k ohms then drops down to 1.95 K ohm’s, then steadly falls to .7 k ohms at wide open. I do not have a Harley electrical manual, but I do not think that the spike in resistace is correct.
What is the default voltage of the TPS?
The TPS appears to be set to a default of 0.5 volts. Rotating it in a CW direction decreases the voltage, and rotating it in a CCW direction increases it.

How to check throttle position on a V-twin?
If any one can chime in on this, it would be great. Looking at my 2001 Electrical Diag Manual, it states to check the TPS, turn ign switch to on, connect voltmeter across pin 30 (+) and pin 16 (grnd) and gradually open throttle. Voltage should increase steadily with no spikes or low voltages.
