Is it possible to repair a bent car frame?
Front end damage to a car, or rear end collision damage to a frame can both result in a bent car frame, which is difficult and expensive to repair. Sometimes the best choice is to sell your vehicle and avoid any further depreciation.
What causes a car’s strut to be bent?
If the strut and tie rods are bent I would strongly suspect there are some other parts bent also; notably the lower control arm. This would have to be caused by a collision or the mother of all potholes or curb strikes. I also have to wonder if the strut tower or subframe is tweaked.
What happens to your vehicle when it hits a curb?
When your wheel hits a curb, the force will cause the wheel to face in a different direction than the other wheels. This is especially troublesome and dangerous in the front steering wheels, which are the primary victims of curb strikes. When your front wheels are out of alignment, your vehicle is more difficult to steer.

Can a car strut be damaged from a crash?
It’s entirely possible the strut could have been damaged from the crash based on leaking at only 53k miles. The problem is that after all of this time you may not be able to do anything about it unless the other party’s insurance company is really understanding. If it’s leaking it needs to be replaced and mcparadise’s advice is correct.
