Is a MPX a SBR?
The “thing” was SIG’s new MPX carbine. And, being welded in place, they gave the compact carbine an overall barrel length of sixteen inches. Without the integral muzzlebrake, the short barrel itself would classify the gun as an SBR – a Short Barreled Rifle in ATF terminology.
Can you put a foregrip on an MPX?
So because the Sig MPX is a pistol and not an SBR you cannot add a vertical foregrip. An angled foregrip is perfectly legal though.
Does Sig Sauer MPX require tax stamp?
The lower receiver is what requires the tax stamp if you plan on using it as an SBR. If installed on a firearm with a barrel length less than 16″, this would require a tax stamp. If you have a 16″ or longer barrel on an MPX or MCX, this would be good to go with no additional paperwork.

They can surrender their firearm to ATF. Or, for gun owners who purchased firearms without stabilizing brace and later added one, ATF will permit them to destroy their pistol braces (but not if the gun owners purchased the firearms already equipped with braces).

In 2012, Alex Bosco invented the Pistol Stabilizing Brace. He made it to help a disabled Veteran friend fire his gun with one hand. That same year, he submitted it to the ATF for consideration and they approved the device for use with pistol and other firearms.
Is the SBX brace good for the MPX?
The SBX Brace is actually pretty comfortable to shoulder when firing the MPX but it looks god awful on the gun. (Everyone knows looking cool is the most important thing). These Braces have been discontinued but I am happy I still have the brace because nowadays they are hard to come by and have gone up significantly in value.
Is the grip on the SIG MPX good?
The grip that came on the MPX is actually pretty good. It’s the standard Sig style pistol grip that I see comes on most Sig rifles. I have a personal preference when it comes to pistol grips.
What kind of sling do I need for my SIG MPX?
Being that the Sig MPX is a smaller firearm with only an 8-inch barrel, a single point sling would work well also. I personally like the Slingster by Ferro Concepts and that is my go-to sling. It has a quick pull tab for easy adjustment too. However, any good sling would work.
