How to get the torque on aluminum heads?
Make sure you are using hardened washers with your bolts on aluminum heads. Moly the thread and the washer up real good. Give each bolt a nice even pull till you get to torque. Don’t jerk the bar and try to use the same arm and pull geometry on each bolt.

They are really good heads for a low-mid range power engine… make really strong torque with the typical TPI powerband (idle-5000 rpm), so a carb setup to match that would work very well too.

We decided to look at the cylinder heads offered by General Motors Performance Parts (GMPP) on the most popular of their small-blocks, the ZZ4 350. The ZZ4 has a nice combination of features, including 355 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque.

What are the torque specs on my new aluminum heads?
Discussion in ‘ Engine Topic ‘ started by mainejohn, Jan 1, 2011 . so what are the torque specs on my new aluminum heads? all the bolts have sealer paste on them, do i also use some lube on the bolts and washers to get correct torque specs? It would be best to ask the head and/or bolt manufacturer this question.
Is the ZZ4 intake the same as the LT1?
They are aluminum, standard intake, D-port exhaust (same as LT1), center-bolt valve covers, and angle plugs. They are a pretty good head, and the newer ZZ4 versions have had a few updates to the port design from what I’ve heard, though I don’t know what exactly.
