Why is my triumph 05 Speedmaster not starting?
Thanks for that chap. Very useful and most appropriate at the moment as it seems my 05 Speedmaster has developed an ignition fault after being in the garage for a couple of weeks. Fuel on, switched it on, pushed the go button, engine spun over the rev counter went round to 7000rpm and stuck there, no brum brum.
What should I do if my Triumph bike won’t start?

Neutral, clutch in. — Click from under seat but no cranking. — Won’t crank after rocking bike. — Starter continues to run after bike starts and won’t stop until the battery is disconnected. — Internal contact damage resulting in non-conduction.
Are there any problems with the triumph starter?
All the wiring seems sound and no obvious faults apart from some muck. The igniter checks out, there is a resistance and the air gap is within tolerance. The LT side of the coils, HT leads and plug caps all check out, (resistances within spec’s), but nowt on HT side? so there’s one possible?.

It’s a false economy. Either go for a high-cranking lead-acid battery, usually fitted to touring bikes or a Lithium battery which has around 50% more cranking power than standard lead-acid batteries. The noise you can hear isn’t the battery clicking but the starter solenoid.

The symptoms of a bad stator are similar to a bad regulator/rectifier’s symptoms- these parts work closely together, and a bad R/R can affect the Stator.
Can a Triumph bike turn over without a spark?
If the bike turns over without sparking discount these bits of the harness – they must be ok. The pick up coil.
