- Release the secondary hood release by moving the lever between the front grille and the hood toward the left.
- Lift up the hood.
Why does the hood not lock on my Subaru Outback?
My hood had this issue and I fixed it about a month ago (04 forester). The hood release part of the switch was hanging up and not allowing the hood to lock into place. As the hood hook would fall into place, the release action would lag and it wouldn’t lock.
Is there a latch problem on my Subaru Outback?
There is no reason to create duplicate threads. just a quick note that i tried WD-40 on the latch mechanism and it seems to be working fine now! so if anyone else has this problem give the ‘miracle worker’ a try first. Thanks. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best–you know, like plugging the lamp in!

When did I get my Subaru Outback 2005?
Its 2005. I just got it last Monday and it went back to the dealer twice already. I feel bad experiencing these problems with my 2nd and most expensive subaru.
