Do I need sway bar disconnects?
There’s no reason at all why you’d want to disconnect the sway bars on your road car. And, for a four-wheel drive you only want to disconnect them when driving at low speeds off-road. Sway bars are designed to ensure your vehicle’s wheels don’t move too far up or down independently of the opposite wheel.
Should your sway bar be level?
They should be at or as close to parallel as possible. However if you are not using the disconnect and using an e-disconnect sway bar like on the rubicon you would need the sway bar angled higher to accommodate for suspension droop.

You can use an anitrock to cover up the real issue if you want in much the same way people try to cover up their steering issues with a stronger stabilizer, but it’s not really something I would do. I should add that I operate with no sway bars at all…. but then I have the TF 3″ sport lift (tough springs) with the falcon 3.3 shocks.
Can a sway bar be used off road?
ANY sway bar (antirock or otherwise) will limit suspension travel both on and off road because that’s what they are specifically designed to do…. and off-road you don’t want to restrict suspension travel… which is why they came up with disconnects.
