How does a bank angle sensor work on a bike?

How does a bank angle sensor work on a bike?

The bank angle sensor is comprised of a small metal ball that is placed between two electrical contacts that connects the power circuit and the ignition coil. When the bike leans at a dangerous angle or is dropped, that ball rolls from between the two contacts and the circuit is broken.

Can a bank angle sensor be bad ECM?

If not, then a bad bank angle sensor is possible. If you have a multimeter you can test the bank angle sensor for continuity when its upright and upside down, but then you’ll have to remove it from the frame for that test. I’m still thinking you have a bad ECM (PGM-FI) unit. It also turns your engine off if your machine tips over.

When do you need to replace steering angle sensors?

It is crucial that you get your sensors replaced if they start to fail. Analog steering angle sensors are wired with a 5-volt reference. The sensors can be tested from a port under the steering column. It is so important to make sure these sensors are working properly since they have such a crucial role.

When does the bank angle sensor turn off the engine?

The sensor switches off the engine automatically as a safety measure if the bike tilts over its prescribed limits and tends to tip over. When the bike falls onto its side as in case of an accident, the bank angle sensor turns off the engine. Thus, it prevents any possible injuries to the rider or damage to the bike.

Where to install bank angle sensor switch kit?

Install the bank angle sensor switch to the right front corner of the battery tray with the screw from the kit. Refer to the Service Manual and follow the instructions given to install the right-side cover, tucking any excess wires under the cover. Install the main fuse, left-side cover and saddlebag per the instructions in the Service Manual.
