How do you test a DEF pump?
Field Testing
- Visually inspect DEF for color and clarity.
- Do a “smell test”.
- Inspect exhaust piping and DEF injectors for presence of crystallization.
- Use a handheld DEF refractometer to measure the concentration specifications of the fluid to ensure 32.5% of the fluid is urea.
How long does a DEF pump last?
If the DEF is stored at ambient temperatures of 75 F with no major periods of exposure to heat over 86 F then the batch of DEF will last roughly two years. If a package of DEF is exposed to periods of heating the fluid will last approximately one year.
How much pressure should a DEF pump have?
Using clean, dry, and oil-free shop air, a standard air fitting and an air pressure gauge, inflate the DEF pump module air bladder to 2.8-3.2 bar (40-46 psi) through the Schrader valve.
How does a DEF quality sensor work?
The DEF level sensor, which is part of the DEF sending unit, measures the level of fluid remaining in the DEF tank. When the liquid level is low, the DEF level sensor sends a signal to the vehicle’s ECU which then triggers the warning light on the gauges or panel.
Are there any aftertreatment problems on my DD13?
Visually they look ok. While running the regen the inlet was showing about 400 ppm and the outlet was showing about 460 ppm. As soon as the engine idled back down the inlet was showing about 150 ppm and the outlet was showing about 10-15 ppm. I’m currently downloading dddl8.0 which will let me do the procedure to check them.
What should the Temps be on a DD13?
Here’s the “normal” values for all of the Aftertreatment Parameters during a Parked Regen. *Note* On a DD13, there are 3 important parameters that will have higher values than the DD15 or DD16. I didn’t save the log file when I ran the regeneration but I believe the temps were around 900F.
Why is the bottom of my DD15 leaking?
you have coolant in the oil, because bottom o ring of liner is leaking. its a common problem of dd15. I’ve been with Specialized for over a year now and couldn’t be happier. Nothing is perfect but they do their best for drivers. They also pay the best!
What are the common problems on DD engines?
There is a 2012 Cascadia with DD engine 650k miles for sale with coolant in the oil that I’m considering buying. What are the common problems on DD engines? If I buy this truck I expect best case scenario to do a valve job/head gasket, replace all 6 injectors + injector harnesses, fuel quantity valve and whatever else I might find.
