How do you reset the fuel filter on a 2006 DuraMAX?

- Without pressing the pedals, turn the ignition key to the ON position without starting the engine.
- Wait 5 seconds.
- Completely press the brake and the accelerator pedals simultaneously and hold for 10 seconds. The system is now reset.
- Turn the ignition key OFF.
Why is my Duramax not starting after fuel filter change?
Changed the fuel filter today, and cannot for the life of me get the system primed back up. I loosened the bleeder screw, and have been pumping for so long that there’s a blister on my hand.

Put your head close to the fuel tank and have an assistant turn the key on without cranking the engine. You should hear the fuel pump in the tank come on. Tap the top of the fuel tank lightly with a piece of wood or rubber mallet and see if the pump unsticks. This will sometimes be enough to get the truck running until you drive to a garage.
