How do you open a Subaru hatchback from the inside?
To open Your Subaru Outback trunk from inside there is a small about one inch square just inside the latch. There is a small piece of white plastic in there that You move upward to manually open the latch.

When I press the key fob, I’m still hearing a “click” behind my glove box. The usual fix for the dash button is to replace the switch. You can test it by pulling the switch and bridging the contacts. If that’s it, try cleaning the contacts first.

I have the 2007 Focus wagon. The rear wiper stopped working last winter and now the electric rear hatch release won’t work. I suspect this may be my problem, also. I will disconnect the wiring boot at the top of the hatch opening and see if I can see a problem. Ford apparently won’t fix the harness, at their expense.

Why does my Subaru Outback rear hatch not open?
A few problems: the battery died one month after I purchased. Recently the rear hatch won’t fully open (it stayed half-way) and today it’s even worse – after closing it, it will NOT open anymore. I didn’t touch the memory button. I also checked the owner’s manual but cannot fix this issue at my own effort.

You have to remove the lift gate plastics on the inside, wiper motor, 4 bolts holding the emblem plate and then 2 green clips that the only way to release all 4 prongs is to push a tube around it to compress all at once. One side is easy peasy.
