How can I get brake pressure after replacing brake pads?
I get brake fluid from both bleeders, but the calipers don’t squeeze and the pressure won’t build up. I am using high perf [not synthetic] brake fluid , says compatible w/ dot 3 &4, and has a higher temperature rating. I squeezed the calipers some to get the new pads in, but the thing won’t pump up. WTF!
Why is my brake line mushy after replacing?
A lot of times what happens is that there is a lot of air trapped at the top of the brake line, and being buoyant, the air doesn’t go down to the caliper. You end up with mushy brakes, but unable to get the air out of the lines. Did you do anything with the calipers, or just replace the brake line?
Is it possible to bench bleed after brakes are replaced?
You probably still ave air in the system. It takes a while to completely bleed the brakes with so many parts replaced. You also need to do them in the correct order (but I’ll bet you knew that). And Mountainbike’s question about bench bleeding the master cylinder before installation is a good one.
Why are my brakes so soft after replacing everything?
New front lines, pads, rotors, rear shoes, rear cylinders, drums, springs, adjusters, and levers have all been changed. After changing all this I had a very soft pedal. I bled the brakes three or four times with no affect. So I took it to the local mechanic. He said the master was bad.
Can You Bleed brakes through the master cylinder?
If you install a new master cylinder, you’ll have to bleed your brakes; there’s no way around it. There’s a way to avoid a drawn-out brake bleeding session—bench bleed your master cylinder.
Are there any new brakes on my car?
I recently installed a new master cylinder and power booster, and one new set rotors, one set of new bearings, one set of new calipers, and 1 set of new brake pads on the front brakes for my vehicle. I bled the master cylinder, and bled all the wheels in the proper way.
What kind of brakes do I need for my breifly?
BROUGHT VEHICLE INTO SHOP AND CHECKED OVER, PEDAL IS SOFT, IF YOU PUMP IT SEVERAL TIMES, IT HOLDS BREIFLY AND THEN FADES AWAY, THE REAR BRAKES WERE JUNK, THERE WERE CHUNKS OUT OF THE ROTORS, REPLACED REAR BRAKES, THERE ARE NO LINES LEAKING ON VEHICLE, REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER WITH A NAPA MASTER CYLINDER.
Why do I not get brake pressure after replacing the brake?
Assuming you have the connections tight enough to not allow air in, I replaced the brake line on my DR650 with a ss line and had the same problem. It isn’t the line, just the amount of fluid brought into the lines for each compression cycle. If you can get a vacuum brake line bleeder, it would save a lot of time. Remove ads, support ADV.
