Does extended warranty cover timing belt?

There is a small pin on the face of crankshaft sensor wheel and bump on the oil pump housing, (see Photo 5a) and at both camshafts (mark on the face of the sprockets, small depressions on the inner front cover) See Photo 5b. If the marks are not lined up, put the crank bolt back in and turn the engine one revolution to line them up.

Rotate the engine over twice untill your timing marks realign and check that all the marks are exactly aligned before fitting the timing cover. Not your ready to fit the power steering resivour and the timing belt replacement sticker. Then start your vehicle and ensure everything is running ok!

If they argue that the belt is a wear and tear item ask them when its a scheduled service item. I doubt the tensioner is covered by the standard powertrain warranty (which generally does not apply to engine accessories), but probably would be covered by an extended warranty, depending on the fine print in the policy.
