The whole DEF system is flawed and you will only get a temporary bandaid repair at the dealership. The DURAMAX is UNRELIABLE. IN MY OPINION IT IS ALSO UNSAFE AT THE REDUCED SPEED OF 55 MPH THEN 4 MPH. IT MAY BE A GOVERNMENT MANDATE, BUT IT IS A CHEVY DESIGN. Where do you find the date code on diesel exhaust fluid?
All DEF packages will have a date code located somewhere on the product. The date code will allow you determine the date the DEF was made. 1 gallon containers will have a laser code imprinted on the bottle. 2.5 and 5 gallon containers have a small date code label applied to the bottle.
What to do if Def gauge reading is wrong?
1. Check to see if there is DEF in the tank. If the tank is not empty, drain the tank. On vehicles with A04-27943-000 and A04-27943-001 tanks, disconnect the DEF line from the DEF outlet port at bottom of the tank, and let the DEF drain into the drain pan.
