Are there any issues with the Hyundai Santa Fe?
Mitsubishi valve bodies are known to have issues. I have a Sportage and a Santa Fe both with Torque Converter control valves that leak (internal). Cars drives fine just get a slightly less mileage than best and the check engine light comes on occasionally with the torque converter unlocking at highway speeds.

Is the 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?
Best car ive owned, too ! I bought my 2002 SantaFe in that year brand new. Its been very reliable and ive babied the car on doing maintenance which i do myself. It routinely gets a combined 21 MPG with 23 on the Highway at 70 mph. It is very peppy and in fact, the front tires will spin from a start if you take off real quick.

I bought my Hyundai Santa Fe in March of 2009 with 89,000 miles on it for $7000ish including tax and title and had it until someone hit and ran it when it was parked until October 2011. Great in the snow, I had it in the worst winter in the last 20 years in Minnesota, and it never got stuck once.
Is the Hyundai Santa Fe GLS a good car?
My 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS is an amazing vehicle, especially for the money. I’ve brought it on the beach for some four wheeling, I’ve pushed it over 110mph, it has over 160,000 miles on it, and it’s still running quite well. It’s really going to be emotional the day I have to give this car up… Does recommend this car!!
What kind of gas mileage does a Hyundai Santa Fe get?
It routinely gets a combined 21 MPG with 23 on the Highway at 70 mph. It is very peppy and in fact, the front tires will spin from a start if you take off real quick. I upgraded the crummy LongTrail Tires to Michelin LX Tires and went from 225’s to 245’s — the extra width makes it handle superbly and they dont rub on anything.
