If you have a modern Tivo, purchased in the last 3 or 4 years and a new hard drive you do not need to worry about this. If you are upgrading a Roamio, Premiere, Virgin Media (UK), Series 3 or HD TiVo then you will need a 3.5″ SATA hard drive.

- Plug in the DVR Expander. The power LED illuminates.
- Wait approximately 15 seconds for the hard drive to warm up.
- Plug in the TiVo box.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Is TiVo Desktop still available?
As of fall 2015, TiVo Desktop is no longer available for purchase. However, TiVo will continue to support your existing Desktop installation. TiVo Desktop Plus may work on TiVo BOLT Series UESs but is not supported; the Plex App, TiVo App for iOS, and TiVo App for Android can be used to achieve the same results.
