Can car run with EGR disconnected?
As per my research and going through the threads on EGR valves its OK to run without EGR. Yes it might affect the environment but no harm to engine as such. there are people who are running without EGR for more than 50k km.
Does the EGR valve have a fuse?
It doesn’t have its own fuse and a simple electrical test would prove if it wasn’t getting voltage anyhow. Also check with the garage if their diagnostic kit is fully compatible with Renaults.
What is an EGR valve do?
Within modern internal combustion engines, Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) is a method to control Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) emissions, produced as a by-product during the combustion process. The function of the EGR valve is to control the flow of exhaust gas being recirculated depending on the engine load.
How to clean the EGR valve on a Toyota?
2. Now you can see the EGR Valve, you will need a 12mm socket, Ratchet and extension to remove this. 3. Remove these 2 x bolts 1st for the pipe above the EGR valve. 4. Now undo the other 4 x 12mm nuts and bolts from the EGR valve and unplug this from the wiring loom, this can now be removed.
What happens when you turn off the EGR?
If you get the timing right you’ll probably save the engine. Otherwise you’re out of luck, especially if you have an automatic transmission. The EGR has a valve that can block airflow from entering into the intake once you turn the key off, thus suppressing the oil burn and stopping the runaway.
What are the signs of a choked EGR system?
Decreased power, rough idling, check engine lights, strong fuel odours or even the engine stalling are all signs that your EGR system may be completely choked with carbon build up.
Are there any diesel cars that have EGR?
EGR technology has been present in diesel cars and diesel 4WD’s since the mid 90’s, however as emissions laws have grown more stringent, the impact of the EGR system has gradually increased. Ok so that is some background on EGR systems in general but what about EGR blanking plates?
