Can a Harley Davidson EFI idle speed be adjusted?
Below is a section about Idle RPM tuning from official Harley Davidson SE manual (version 2011). The idle RPM can be set to the lowest value (the SE Super Tuner allows 800 RPM as the lowest value for EFI, you cannot set lower) or as slow as the engine is not dying. Below is the “Idle RPM” section from the manual:
How to adjust idle speed on a V-twin?
U can adjust the M&M idle with the aforementioned Torx set screw. Find the torx screw. With the engine hot, weather warm, back the screw off a “noted” amount… 1/16,1/8 ect. Put it back all together and ride it for a time to see what effect the change made under all conditions {starting hot, cold, riding in traffic, exhaust note ect.}
When does idle come back to normal on a Harley Davidson?
Just seems to happen when I’ve been running at a fairly wide open throttle maintaining higher speeds for a while (fwy) or longer stints (catching all green lights) on the streets at a speed of about 45 or more. It always seems to come back to a normal idle after getting back into first gear when stopped, or when I start going again in 1st.
When to replace the idle air control motor on a Harley?
Direct replacement for Harley p/n 27658-06 on 2007+ EFI models except XL Sportster and 08+ TBW touring models.* When fuel injected Harley motorcycles begin to experience a rough or high idle, or a hard start condition, often this is a result of a faulty Idle Air Control ( IAC) or MAP sensor.
When does an Ultra Classic idle or dies?
If the temp goes above 85 it idles about 500 RPMs or dies when you come to a stop. It will start right back up. I think it’s getting too hot I’ve changed the spark plugs and they are the grey-ish white on both cylinders (sign of running too lean) I’ve changed the air filter, as well. I don’t know how to fix it. Any suggestions or advice?

What happens to a 2007 Ultra Classic when it gets too hot?
I have a 2007 Ultra classic (its stock except for the SE 255 cam) that runs fine and idles fine in temps under 85 degrees. If the temp goes above 85 it idles about 500 RPMs or dies when you come to a stop. It will start right back up. I think it’s getting too hot
How do you adjust the idle on a V-twin?
Here’s an easier way: get your bike to operating temperature (this part is important). Disconnect the ISC plug (the one on top of the throttle body). Adjust the cold idle to about 1500 rpm’s. Turn the bike off; put it back together; and pull the ecm and fuel pump fuses for a few minutes (under the right side cover).
