Where is the ground on a Honda VTX 1800?
If you have a coolant reservoir between the motor cylinders on the left side of the bike (mostly all 05+ VTX’s) then you do not have this ground and you’re done! Otherwise, look under the seat, in front of the battery and ECU and to the right of the Proportional Control Valve (PCV) for the brakes.
Why is my Honda VTX 1800 not working?
These are all connected by a zinc-coated steel 10mm bolt. This design poses a problem because of an electrochemical process known as “Galvanic action” or “Galvanic corrosion.” The short explanation is that when you have different metals in direct contact with each other they corrode at an advanced pace.
Do you need to remove exhaust bracket on Honda VTX?
The process is identical for the 1300 model with the exception that the axle bolt is 8mm instead of 12mm. Some say that you need to remove the exhaust and the license plate bracket to do this, but with a little patience and care I’ve never had a problem getting this done with them on.
How often should I change my Honda VTX rear wheel?
Normal monitoring of this bearing at every tire change (usually every 8-12k miles) is perfectly acceptable and safe. If you’re changing your own tires, all you need to do is stick your finger in that hole (see pic above) and turn the bearing.
Do you need to remove license plate on Honda VTX?
Some people claim that it’s necessary to remove the license plate on a C model to get the tire out from under the fender, but guys with Retro fenders can tell you that it’s not necessary.
