Can a bad alternator cause a Saab 9-3 to stall?
As described above, a bad alternator will drain your 9-3’s battery fast. When the battery gets so dead it will no longer be able to power your 9-3’s ignition system. As the ignition system is no longer able to produce a full powered spark, the engine will begin to sputter and stall.

If your battery is draining while driving, it is almost without exception the 9-3’s alternator that is causing the problem. How to fix steering lock on Saab 9-3?
Put the key in the ignition and take it out for your cockpit lights to turn on and then insert key once again to start the car. I typically wait for the red security light on the dash to stop blinking before starting just to give the car time to process the key. NOT A PERMANENT FIX but works until you can get the problem looked at.
