Each of them have been the shop multiple times for the same problems. Chk Eng/Chk DEF/10 Starts Remaining. Mercedes and Freightliner can not seem to solve the problems. They just throw parts at the problem and send you on your merry way, only to have the same problem occur a day/week/month later.

Most of the time the parts replaced are (in order) NOX Sensors, Upstream Temp Sensor, DEF Dosing Valve, SCR (catalytic converter) and an occasional EGR Valve. Of course, all of these problems start AFTER the emissions warranty has expired.

I then got an error countdown 16 starts remaining. I then went to the dealer and got enough DEF to totally top off my tank. The counter is still counting down. I called the dealer he said the car needs to be brought in and NOX sensors changed [$700 eash] plus reprogramming. Overall about $1800. OUCH.

This is what happens when a Gov. agency ( Carb and EPA) place unreasonable demands on the manufacturers. The pollution equipment will work one day. But it could take a few years.
