Why is my Volkswagen Beetle smoking?
A very common problem that affects all vehicles (including the Volkswagen Beetle) is blue smoke coming from the exhaust. Reasons for blue exhaust smoke include bad valve seals, valve train wear in general, the PCV valve, burning transmission fluid and more. Blue smoke indicates that your Beetle’s engine is burning oil.
Why is my car smoking and cutting off?
Smoke often leaves car engines as a result of overheating. This can be caused by faulty wire casings, heated residues on the engine block and overheated liquids including oil, transmission fluid and brake fluid. There may also be a fault in your coolant system, or your engine may not have enough lubricant.
What does it mean when your car smokes from the back?
If the smoke from the exhaust pipe is either grey or bluish-tinged, it generally means that your engine is burning oil inside the combustion chamber. Burning oil could be due to a number of causes, from leaky valve seals to bad piston rings. If the oil isn’t regularly topped off, it could lead to massive engine damage.

What to do if your car is smoking under the hood?
Take it to an auto servicing shop as soon as possible. Ignoring the problem is likely to end up with malfunctioning piston rings or stalling the engine. If you detect smoke and low oil pressure while driving on the highway, try to park somewhere safe immediately and shut off the engine.
Why does my VW Beetle have hiccups?
