Noticed the loud screeching and grinding noise at low speeds last night coming home and freaked out, but just as a few have explained in this thread (THANK YOU), it was a rock stuck between the rotor and the dust cover.

Sound is worse while in reverse. Took a look this morning under the car to see if a stone was in an obvious place. Unfortunately, it was not. Won’t have time to take the tire off until later in the week. I will post findings as I move forward with it.

Why does my Subaru Forester make a noise when I Turn Left?
OK, about 145,000 miles on the odometer and a noise not unlike the sound heard inside a twin engine prop airplane, but muted, with a pitch that increases with road speed sounds to be coming from the rear end. The sound does not change when turning the vehicle left or right and lately has subsided to a lesser degree.
