Why is air blowing out of my oil cap?
From my experience most motors will blow air from the oil filler cap due to the pressure generated in the crankcase from all of the moving components. Engine blow by is when the engine’s piston rings have worn out enough to allow combustion gases and pressure to escape past the rings, into the engine crankcase.
What causes the oil cap to blow out?
Engines with a PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve that is clogged can build up internal pressure and cause a cap to blow off, unless the cars computer is smart enough to stop the engine. A pressurized crankcase can in time literally blow/pump all of your oil out resulting in a seized motor.
What to do if your oil filler cap blows off?
you should keep the level below full hot. if your oil level meets the specs above, the cap will blow off if the breathers are restricted. remove the air filter and check for air flow through the breather tubes. if you find no external obstruction and you have no air flow, you should replace the breather filters and valves inside the rocker covers.
What happens if the oil cap comes off while driving?
Those can ruin the engine. If the oil cap comes off while driving, oil will be sprayed out leading to engine ceasure. Oil spray will be followed by smoke, which if observed, damage could be reduced. Always keep the engine oil cap fully tightened so that it does not come off and oil sprayed out due to high oil pressure while acceleration
Can a oil pump alignment cause a bad oil cap?
the oil pump alignment, alone, will not cause any issues with your oil cap. it is a crankcase/oil tank pressure problem. it is most ususally caused by overfilling the oil tank.or restricted breathers. misalignment of the oil pump usually results in low oil pressure and oil misting from the breathers.

What to do if oil blows out of filler tube?
If you have a car that puts oil or blows out of that filler tube, you should shack your PVC (assuming your car was built after 1965 os so). It should be sucking air from the engine to the intake, but now allowing it to go the other way. Pull it and blow through it each way, and shake it to make sure the ball is loose.
What are the most dangerous wear particles in an oil cap?
That is half of the side a human eye can see. The most dangerous wear particles are those between. 5 µm and 15 µm, as those are not removed by a filter, and will continue circulating.
