Why does the oil blow out on my Harley Davidson?
For about the last 3 months or so, every time I start the engine the oil dipstick plug gets blown off, and oil spits out the filler neck. This happens any time I start the engine, hot or cold. The bike runs qreat after starting and no performance loss in noticable. A mechanic told me this is caused by sumping.

Where does the check ball go in an oil pump?
Red arrow number 2 indicates where the check ball is installed into the pump body. It has a spring that presses the ball onto the seat, just above arrow number 1. When the oil is pressurized it lifts the ball off the seat and flows to the engine. This is looking down into the oil pump body where the check ball goes.

Install the oil pump. Connect feeder and return lines. Fill the oil tank to correct level. Remove check valve cover screw with a flat head screwdriver. Remove the check valve O-ring and spring by hand. Remove the check valve ball with a mechanic’s magnet from inside the oil pump body.
