Why does the ipdm on a Nissan Frontier not work?
THE INTELLIGENT POWER DISTRIBUTION MODULE (IPDM) ASSEMBLY CONTAINS AN ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) RELAY THAT HAS A DIODE FOR ELECTRICAL CURRENT NOISE REDUCTION. THE ECM RELAY MAY ALLOW SILICON VAPOR TO FORM AND, OVER TIME, THE SILICON EVAPORATES FROM THE DIODE MOLDING WHICH CAUSES SILICON OXIDE TO DEVELOP ON THE ECM RELAY CONTACT DUE TO ARCING.
Where to find ipdm info on Nissan path?
Info for the IPDM is found in the Service manual, PG file (Power Supply Circuits), page 25 has the diagram of relay locations. See: Sticky: Service and other Nissan manuals. Since first reply, I now understand that the maker of the relay had issues during mfg that caused early failure.
How to replace the ipdm in your car?
The ipdm controls the diff lock position switch and after a rear end swap with no luck with the locker…the ipdm was replaced it locked up instantly and still does to this day. My brake issues on the other hand…the ABS light is coming on and my brakes are acting funny, I just replaced the rear rotors and pads…fronts were fine??
Where can I buy ipdm for my ECU?
-I have read instance where swapping the relays did not help but the problems was solved once a new IPDM was installed. -Unfortunately you can NOT get the $100 IPDM anymore. You can buy just the relay from the dealer.

Is there a problem with the Nissan ipdm?
The mechanic at the dealership says it is a problem with the IPDM, and it needs to be replaced. They need to order it directly from Nissan, etc. He’s saying $180 for the part, but whatever, the issue now is he can’t guarantee that’s the only problem… or that is actually going to fix the problem.
Are there four relays in an ipdm-ER?
The only relays that you wanna worry about are the two that are encircled. The top encircled one is the ECM relay and the fourth relay down is the Fog Light Relay. All you have to do is switch the two relay around and try to start your X. Pin configurations of all relays are the same and consist of four blades.
