Why is my Taurus Sable not starting in Park?
It just started having problems starting in park like the battery was dead but it was not – turns out it is the neutral park switch not being made due to excess play in the shifter on the steering column. It is normally supposed to stay in park when you are trying to start but you can move it to another notch like neutral to get it started.
What’s the RPM on a 2004 Taurus Sable?
You have to keep pushing on the pedal to keep it stopped at an intersection, etc. The pedal doesn’t keep going down, but it is considerably harder to push than any other vehicle I’ve ever had (including my 2004 Freestar). The engine Rpm reads approx 800, and doesn’t change when shifting from Park to Drive, etc.

Can a worn transmission pump cause transmission slippage?
Worn transmission pump: The transmission pump supplies pressurized hydraulic fluid to the transmission. A pump that is damaged or worn can result in a lack of internal pressure and transmission slippage. You may hear a whining noise, or notice a fluid leak. Solution: Typically, the transmission must be rebuilt or replaced when the pump fails.
Can a slipping transmission be a solenoid problem?
Do not confuse a slipping transmission with a solenoid problem. You will hear and feel the difference when you try to shift. A slipping transmission will actually shift, but then not produce any power once in gear, whereas a bad solenoid will prevent the shift from occurring in the first place.
