Why does my speedometer bounce all the time?
My trucks speedometer works smoothly up to 33 mph but then will start bouncing (more aggressively at higher speeds) from random points. I’ve read up and found that it’s often a VSS issue but my trucks cruise control works and will turn on just fine, but causes my speeds to change rapidly with the speedo bounce.
Where is the speedometer on a Ford F150?
Turn ignition on. Backprobe terminals No. 1 (Light Green/Yellow wire) and No. 3 (Pink/Black or White/Purple wire) of Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module (PSOM) harness connector, located behind instrument cluster. If battery voltage does not exist, repair appropriate wire from fuse panel.

The batt light goes on and the entire instrument cluster (spedo fuel turbo temp etc ) shuts off .. when it’s off the climate control won’t work and the sun roof won’t work . Sometimes the abs light comes on before it shuts off. Turns on and off intermittently. I’ve checked fuses and cleaned battery connections and ground connections .. please help

Eventually it no longer would keep the battery charged. Since replacing it its been running fine since, other than this new issue. These instrument clusters are essentially computers getting digital messages from other vehicle computers which tells what to set the needles at and which lights to light.

What does it mean when your odometer does not work?
Take a look here. If your speedometer stops registering speed and your odometer does not move as far as registering miles traveled, you also realize that your directional signals do not self cancel, your engine could be running differently and stalling, your problem is more than likely the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) on the transmission.
Why does the speedo on a Harley Davidson stop working?
The magnetic speed sensor pick up gets fouled from the metal shavings in the transmission which causes the speedo to stop working and the directionals to stop self canceling because of no input to the ECM from the sensor. The ECM thinks that the bike is standing still because of no input.
