Why does my Pontiac Montana not shift gears?
Will not go at all when in any gear… Turn engine off, start it back up and it will go and might switch into 2nd and sometimes 3rd but then starts rolling again. Not fixed yet but I hope someone knows what to do. Just happened today, compl;etely out of the blue. No warnings, just won’t move in Drive or 3rd. slow rolls in 1 and 2nd.

Also having similar problems with my 1997 Trans Sport Montana with 115,000 miles on it. Happens on highway when a hard shift is needed at a high speed to go up a hill. I pulled over and did not shut the van off and then tried to drive again and it was stuck in 4th gear.
How much does it cost to fix transmission on Pontiac Montana?
Service mgr. indicated past experience was that solenoid sheds fragments that contaminate valve body. Engine/transmission must be suspended to remove cover and valve body for removal and cleaning. $100.00+ in parts but a ton in labor. Long story short…$900.00 later transmission is fixed and working properly.
What do you put in a Pontiac Montana?
I PUT SEAFOAM IN AND IT HELPED, BUT NOW I THINK THE TOURQUE CONVERTER IS GOING OUT TOO. I HAVE OWNED THIS MONTANA FOR ALMOST 7 YRS.

Our technicians tell us that partial dis-assembly of the transmission is necessary to replace a failed pressure control solenoid. Goes into gear then will not switch gears… Starts rolling…
Can a car in Park move through gears?
Car in park shifter will move through gears but wont shif… Worked fine threw gears parked it when inside store 5mins came back turned car on and shifter moves from P-L but wont shift car into any of the can just move shifter back and forth wont go into gear its stuck in nutual have to hit brake or emerg.

Why does my Pontiac Montana make a whining noise?
My ’01 Montana has a “whining” noise that sounds like it’s downshifting, but it is not. The engine RPM stays constant. It seems to happen around 40 mph when I let off the accelerator, and goes away if I accelerate.
