Why does my oxygen sensor stay in not ready mode?

Why does my oxygen sensor stay in not ready mode?

If you have performed the necessary driver cycles and have not lost battery voltage or reset the computer at any time then you either have a problem with the heater circuit of the sensor or the computer is failing. I usually test the heater circuit first as it will not set a code if it is working, but just not reaching the right temperature.

Is the O2 sensor heater ” not ready “?

I am showing all ready except “O2 Sensor Heater” (which is what the same as they told me at the emissions test). Driving: There has already been over 500 miles put on the truck since the exhaust work was done on it. I have put over 150 (freeway and city) since purchasing.

What happens when you change the O2 sensor?

The O2 sensor then sends information to the electronic control unit, or ECU, the vehicle’s computer. The ECU then adjusts the air-to-fuel ratio to optimize the fuel combustion. Sometimes an O2 sensor fails, and you need to replace it.

Why is my OBD2 not ready for inspection?

On Saturday, Sept. 14 I brought it in for it’s annual NY state inspection. The car runs fine and there are no error codes or visible problems. It passed inspection without any problem in 2012. This year my vehicle will not pass state inspection as the OBD2 monitor status for both the Evaporative System and O2 Sensor continually show “Not Ready.”

How long does it take O2 sensors to show Ready?

Drive the car almost 300 miles in various conditions and still won’t show ready. This really sucks. I struggled with this as well when trying to pass smog with a tune. i was finally able to get them to reset by driving real hard. Need to get the exhaust temps. high to get the 02 heat to reset. That’s one of the two things failing.

Why does my oxygen sensor heater not set a code?

I usually test the heater circuit first as it will not set a code if it is working, but just not reaching the right temperature. Keep in mind that this does take quite a few drive cycles to complete. If the circuit is fine then the computer should be reflashed and then replaced if it does not take care of it.
