Why does my lawn mower start only if I pour gas into carb?
I did this beacause the primer button is not torn or cut and i can hear air moving but it doesn’t push any gas into carb. i can keep it running by spraying fluid into carb with air filter off? gas obviously is not getting to the carb, but not sure where to start. I did pull the gas line that connects to carb and it does have gas.
Why do I have to pour fuel into the carburetor?
Something else you can try is to take the fuel line loose at the fuel filter and put the “engine” side of the hose into a container of gas and see if the engine clears up when running. If it does then there is a problem with the fuel getting to the filter. I have seen the fuel lines deteriorate internally and cause all sorts of problems.
What to do if your car won’t start without gas?
Now it starts without even pumping the gas, even after sitting for a week. Close the choke turn the key and it starts right up, before I cleaned out the carb it would not even sputter without poring gas down the carb, but once started ran and idled well.
What to do if your carburetor is not working?
A problem with the float is also likely to cause flooding when trying to start the engine. Check the adjustment on your float pin, and maybe even get a new one, and this should hopefully stop your problem!

Why does my car not start when I Turn Off the gas?
I also notice that when I turn the truck off the fuel level in the carb reservoir drops or drains. There are no signs of fuel leaks anywhere. After driving it I park it in the garage and look at the site glass on carb right after I shut it down and the level is about half level.
Why does my lawn mower not start when I put gas in it?
If it does start and keeps running, the carb cleaning and spark plug cleaning did the job. If it starts but won’t keep running even after several squirts of gas and restarting, the carb ports are either still clogged or the fuel line is clogged. Also, put enough gas in the tank to ensure gas is actually getting to the carb.
