Why does my car make a long crank when starting?
The reason for this is that the fuel viscosity is lower when the engine is warm also the clearances in the engine (injectors, CP3) are bigger causing more leakage. The CP3 needs to make 3000 psi in the rail before the computer will fire the injectors for a start. The case that is being described here is backwards from most cases I have seen.

First, before you try cranking the engine over, turn the ignition key to the run position then back off without cranking the starter. What this will do is run the fuel pump and in most cases, you will be able to hear the fuel pump running. Do this 3 to 4 times before you try starting it.
