Why are the high beams not working on my 1990 Miata?
Recently, the high beams on my mother’s 1990 Miata stopped working. The bulbs were fine and the high beams worked when you pulled the stalk back for flash-to-pass. However, when you pushed forward for high beams you got nothing. I narrowed the problem down to the combination switch in the steering column.
Why are my lights burnt out on my Miata?
The arrows indicate some of the switch contact areas. These switch contact areas are what cause the problem. Over the years the contacts become burnt. This can be caused by extra current being pulled through the switch due to people installing high wattage headlights or just by age.
What causes a low beam light to stop working?
If a headlight fuse blows, it could cause the headlights to stop working. Most headlight systems are also designed with a relay that switches the power between low beam and high beam headlights.

Why is my turn signal on my Miata not working?
I found a suspicious solder connection on the solenoid that controlled the right side. This connection was one of the larger ones on the board and looked worn or broken. I heated the connection and applied a bit more solder and reinstalled the module.
