Where is the stator on a Polaris Sportsman 700 ATV?
Consider the following diagram : This is for a Polaris sportsman 700 2003 ATV On the top right corner, you have the information to check if the stator function properly. For the first three coils, everything pass. However, I’m not sure how to test the ignition coil as the only data specified are “without caps” and “with caps”.
What can I do about a stator problem on a sportsman 600?
During our research we stumbled upon a YouTube video of a journalist who was repairing a 2004 Sportsman 600 with the exact same problem. That video featured a solution from the Canadian company RMSTATOR. Consisting of a CDI box, a new ignition coil and a wire harness with connectors.
How can I tell if my stator connector is defective?
Ohms Test. You will need a multimeter set to Ohms for this test. Test every lead of the stator’s connector and note the readings. The reading of each combination should be the same (test leads 1-2, 2-3, and 3-1). If they are different, your stator is defective.
How do you test an ATV stator on the ground?
ATV stator – Ground Test Setting a multimeter to Ohms, touch the negative wire to the ground and alternate the positive wire between every lead of the stator’s connector. If you have any reading different from OL (Open Loop), you have a faulty stator.

How can I tell if my stator is bad?
If you have any reading different from OL (Open Loop), you have a faulty stator. With the meter set on AC Volts, start your machine and test every combination of 2 wires from the stator’s connector. (1 with 2, 2 with 3, 3 with 1) if the 3 readings are not equal, your stator is bad. Set your meter to Ohms and repeat the same AC output test.
