Where does oil leak from Harley Davidson shocks?
If it’s coming out of the shock itself, it’s time to replace it. Usually they leak at the seal where the piston goes through shock body. With the big covers on the top of shock sometimes it hard to tell. I would bet on the inside side of shock nearest tire the oil is drizzling down the side and pooling at the bottom weld.
Why is oil leaking from the front of my bike?
In my experience, the most common cause for leaks is storing the bike upside-down. They get worse as the fork ages as dust and grit will scratch and foul the seals. Often only one leg actually contains oil (moreso for XC forks), which is why you’re seeing a leak on one side.
What causes oil to leak from Fork stanchion?
The first thing you need to do is define what you mean by leak. If it is a thin and light coat of oil on on fork stanchion, this is very likely normal. If it is a puddle, pool, or drip of oil on the fork leg, this is more than likely a problem. It can be a failed fork seal, or a a damaged damping or lockout cartridge.
What causes shock absorbers and struts to leak?
These problems are almost always due to one of two things: age and accidents. Shock age: Modern shock absorbers and struts are designed to last several years and over 50,000 miles, but eventually the seals do wear out and they begin to leak.
