Where does jumper wire go?
The positive (red) cable should be attached to the positive terminals on each battery. The negative (black) cable should have one end attached to the negative terminal of the dead battery, and one end grounded.
Should RC and RH be connected?
The RC wire (C for Cooling), if connected properly, controls your HVAC cooling. The RH wire (H for Heating) provides power to your HVAC heating. If you are planning to replace your home thermostat, it will be essential that you know which wires to connect to the right terminals in your thermostat.
What is the purpose of a jumper?
In electronics and particularly computing, a jumper is a short length of conductor used to close, open or bypass part of an electronic circuit. They are typically used to set up or configure printed circuit boards, such as the motherboards of computers. The process of setting a jumper is often called strapping.
Can you use any wire for jumper wire?
Look for 20- or 22-gauge wire. In North America, the gauge is often labeled AWG (for American wire gauge). You also need a wire cutter and a wire stripper, or one tool that does both jobs, as well as needle-nose pliers.
Does red wire go into RC or RH?
There is no standard for the colour of the RH wire, but most units use a red one. The RC wire, on the other hand, refers to “red cooling”. It’s the same with the RH wire in that it powers the thermostat.
How do you hook up a breaker to a subpanel?
Run the wire from the subpanel back to the main breaker panel. Turn off the main breaker. Use wire cutters to trim the wire so that it is about a foot longer than what is needed. With the wire strippers, remove the outer and inner insulation in the same way as for the subpanel.
Where do you put the wire in a patch panel?
Place all 8 wires into the 110 style connector of the patch panel in the patch panel outlet that is used to receive the incoming cables. You will see the color code labels on the patch panel, that indicates which wire is to be placed into which connector pin.
Why are grounding wires bonded to the subpanel?
During normal operation, the grounding wires can energize equipment enclosures and casings with neutral current (yes, the neutral carries current; the reason the conductors are insulated). A separate terminal bar, bonded to the subpanel, is needed for the equipment grounding conductors.
How do you attach a subpanel to a wall?
Using screws and a cordless electric screwdriver, attach the subpanel box to the wall about four or five feet above the floor. Strip about one foot of the outer insulation from 8/3 wire, using wire strippers. You will want to use heavy wire for this box so that it can carry the extra amps needed for multiple circuits.
